From the window of her apartment on East Desert Inn Road, Pat Virginia would watch the development of Signature Homes’ newest community, Mountain View, more closely than most. She and her husband, Bob, who moved to Las Vegas from upstate New York 15 years ago, were looking to buy their first home here after living in a series of apartments and condominiums in the area. They wanted privacy and the freedom to make their home their own, but they also wanted to stay near Sunrise Mountain because they “love it.” One day after watching the trucks drive by, Pat surfed the Web in order to find out who was developing the plot of land nestled between Sunrise Mountain and the Stallion Mountain golf course. She discovered that Signature Homes, a developer with which she was already familiar, was going to be the first to build there. “Before we moved here we got a newspaper subscription and I remembered reading about Signature Homes,” Pat recalls. “The name stuck in the back of my mind, because they’ve been here a long time and they have a reputation for building nice houses.” Pat happened to be vacationing in New York when the floor plans for Mountain View were released, so she went to a nearby library and looked them up online. When she returned from her trip, she went straight to the onsite sales office. “I think I was one of the first people to put down a deposit,” says Pat, who ended up purchasing the 1,364-square-foot Vista model at Mountain View. “I didn’t see anything but a floor plan, but I was confident it would be a great house because of Signature’s reputation.”
